01 Film Materials

Conventional Plastic Film (PE/PVC)

Replacement Cycle: Conventional PE or PVC film has a service life of approximately 6 months to 1 year. Due to the rapid decline in light transmittance and drip resistance in actual production, annual replacement is recommended.

Special Scenarios: For high-light crops (such as nightshade vegetables), prioritize replacing aging film to prevent light transmittance from falling below 70%, which can affect photosynthesis.

Functional Film (EVA/PO Film)

EVA Film: Offers excellent durability and is recommended for replacement every 2-3 years.

PO Film: Highly resistant to aging, with a service life of up to 2-3 years. Replacement is recommended when light transmittance drops below 80%.

PVC Calendered Film

Due to its susceptibility to aging and poor dust resistance, replacement is recommended every 1-2 years.

02 Hard Materials

Glass

Single/Double Glazing: Chemically stable, maintains a light transmittance above 91.5% over a long period of time. With normal maintenance, it can last 20-30 years, requiring only periodic cleaning or repairs.

Ultra-clear diffuse reflective tempered glass: Has a higher light transmittance (97.5%) and requires less frequent replacement, but requires regular crack inspection and sealing.

PC Sheet

Strongly impact-resistant, with a service life of 10-15 years. Replacement is required if yellowing, increased haze, or light transmittance drops below 60%.

03 Replacement Timing Criteria

Light Transmittance

Film should be replaced immediately if its light transmittance drops below 70%. High-light crops (such as tomatoes) require a light transmittance of ≥90%.

Glass’ light transmittance remains stable over time, requiring only surface cleaning every 2-3 years.

Physical Damage

Film tears exceeding 10% of the surface area, or cracks or delamination on hard materials (such as solar panels), should be replaced promptly.

Film surface powdering, brittleness, or a significant increase in haze (affecting scattered light) requires replacement.

Functional Degradation

Anti-fog film failure (severe condensation on the surface) and reduced nighttime temperature control capabilities of thermal insulation film require replacement.

04 Maintenance Tips to Extend Lifespan

Regular Cleaning: Rinse film monthly and clean glass with a high-pressure water jet quarterly to minimize light transmittance loss by 10%-20%.

Avoid Mechanical Damage: Wrap sharp surfaces with soft cloth to prevent scratches on the film or solar panels.

Extreme Weather Preparedness: Clear snow promptly in winter and cover with shade nets during high temperatures in summer to reduce material aging.

General Recommendation: Replace ordinary plastic film every 1-2 years, functional film every 2-3 years. Hard materials (glass, solar panels) can be used for extended periods but require regular maintenance.
